January is the month to clean house!!
Yes, even your interiors should be cleansed and detoxed for 2017.
By cleansed we mean - tossing those half burned candles, the stained place matts and the piles of magazines hidden away. Let the fresh air in. Toss those ancient dried flower arrangments covered with dust.
Organize your office by using plastic bins for every category of junk.
In the kitchen, get new accessories for the countertops. A new fruit bowl or salt & pepper shakers.
Drapery can be lightend up.
The key to that is minimalism and simplicity, with crisp lines. We no longer want to see heavy swags and jabots, which were fine in the traditional interiors of the 90s, but not in 2017. A straight line valance can add depth and definition - if a space is needed for hardware.
The palette should be neutral and in keeping with the wall colors, almost sheer fabrics let the light in. Tone on tone fabrics add richness..
Another great idea is to use a minimal fabric, like muslin or linen and trim the leading edge with a 4-6” banded trim.
This gives a lot of bang for very little expense, and gives a vertical boost to the space.
Patterned geometrics are an effective way to get a new dynamic look in a room…
